Two versions of the Reilly´s model have been applied to delineate spheres of influence of selected settlements. Fig. 1 shows the modelled hinterlands of the Slovak settlements with more than 24.000 inhabitants according to the geometric version of the Reilly´s model.
Fig. 2 and fig. 3 show the results of topographic version of the Reilly´s model. The functional urban regions (Bezák 2000) have been employed as basic spatial units. Fig. 2 shows the situation with 8 existing regional capitals, fig. 3 with 12 potential regional capitals.
In all cases the β parameter of the model has been set to 2, which preserves the Newtonian analogy.
